Who is this course aimed at ?
All
young musicians possessing an instrumental level of at least second grade. All orchestral instruments are welcome :
- Strings (violins,
altos, cellos and double-bases)
- Woodwind (flutes, oboes, clarinets and
bassoons)
- Brass (trumpets, horns, trombones and
tubas)
- Percussion (the
kettledrums)
Nota
Bene : the course will take place at the Centre Méditerannéen in Cap d’Ail
situated in a spectacular park of 3 hectares which is secured 24 hours a day.
The park along with the music teachers and the technical supervisorts will be
supervised by official BAFA animators affiliated with the youth and sports ministay
in accordance with current regulations.
Course
objectives :

- Work as an
orchestra:
- Further collective listening : themes, nuances, rhythms
- Initiation into performance, style and musical play of the chosen
- Managing energy and personal
concentration while getting pleasure out of
pieces collective musical performance
- Instrumental work (individual and group):
- Perfecting techniques of play
through families of instruments (breathing, the fingering
technique, the placing of the bow, reading music scores, rapid reading,
etc.)
- Meeting fellow youths of the European Union :
o Sharing the same passion in a friendly and
international atmosphere.
With the
participation of a doctor specialised in the arts of the stage.
- Dealing with posture back problems.
- How to avoid spasms and tendonitis.
· Learning to play in a relaxed fashion without
losing concentration.

The Music Teachers
Jean-Jo Roux
     Registered music teacher at the Lycée David
d’Angers (49-France) Conductor and composer. Officer decorated for services to education in France.
He created the
Symphonic Orchestra at the Lycée David d’Anger in 1983 (65 youths aged
between 11 and 18 years) This orchestra has performed in Houston, New York, Boston, Dallas, New Orleans,
Vienna, Copenhagen, Prague, Montreal, Berlin, Cracovia, Shanghai, Peking,
Bamako, Budapest… Having toured China twice (1998 and 2004) JJ Roux was invited
to conduct a chinese youth Orchestra and to put on two
concerts in August 2006 in Suzhou near Shanghai.
Emmanuel André
   Violinist
After studying music at the National Music Academy in the Region of Angers, then of
St. Maur (awarded the Gold Medal following an unanimous vote), Emmanuel André got
a scholarship at the National Superior Music Academy in Paris.
Subsequently, he went on to obtain first prize for the violin voted for
unanimously at the CNSM in Lyon and be became a member of
of the Radio-France Philharmonic Orchestra in 1994.
He has taken part in the master classes of J-J Kantorow, the Ravel
Quartet and more recently he has worked with P. Oundjan,
a member of the Tokyo Quartet. Furthermore, Emmanuel André has the job of passing
his experience on to the youngest of musicians : it is for this reason
that he regularly has a hand in the “Young Public“ activities of the
Philharmonic Orchestra and for 15 years he has held an orchestral
course aimed at young musicians in Angers (OLDA). Emmanuel is part of the
Alcyon Quartet.
